Eye

Eye

Specifications

  • Form Factor: Diamond-shaped PCB badge with mounting hole at top for wearing
  • Main Design Element: Vintage-style all-seeing eye illustration with radiating light rays
  • Lighting: Right-angle LEDs mounted on the back of the PCB that create a yellow/gold halo effect around the eye design
  • Interactivity: Built-in accelerometer that detects movement or tapping
  • Animation Effect: When the accelerometer is triggered by tapping or movement, the LEDs activate in a programmed animation sequence
  • Power Source: CR2032 coin cell battery
  • Power management: Ultra-low power idle mode, uses ~5µA in between triggers (battery should last years without being turned off

Design Elements

  • The eye illustration features intricate etching with fine line work
  • Radiating lines extend from the central eye in a sunburst pattern
  • The diamond shape provides a perfect frame for the symmetrical design
  • The contrast between the dark PCB material and the illuminated sections creates a dramatic visual effect
  • I used a row/column matrix for the topology with transistors on the rows, supporting 4x4 LEDs.
